When you turn up to one of our martial art lessons, you may be thinking you are turning up to learn some form of martial art style. for a bit of a fitness lesson, to learn some self-defence. You have no idea of who the instructor really is or what other people will be training there. The word martial art can conjure up a load of things in one’s mind depending on one’s own experiences, this could be from watching the latest movie on at the cinema, from magazines, youtube tutorials, from watching UFC, boxing or a wrestling match on TV. This is one reasons why video’s of classes on social media is a really good idea.
What you don’t know that you are getting when you step into a martial arts class is the reason why that instructor is teaching his or her style or why they are teaching at all. If it is because they thought that it would be great to earn some extra cash then they are not in it for the right reasons, they will not have no real passion behind their teaching and they will probably not be in it for the long haul and won’t last long.
What you get from stepping into one of Matt Hudd Martial arts classes is almost 40 years of blood and sweat of training with some the best instructors in the world. Every time Matt Hudd is teaching he is bringing back memories of bullies at school, the ones that tried putting his head down the toilet at the age of 8, the ones that ridiculed him on his speech, the name calling, the taking the piss of his all year round snotty nose, for those secondary school kids that chased him home from primary school, the kid up his shop that tormented him, vandalised his bike, all the insults that the quiet sensitive kid though must be real. All these reasons are why Matt Hudd teaches the children to become individuals and think for themselves and be confident, assertive and proud to be who they are. It is these reasons why Matt Hudd is thankful to every one of those bullies that thought he was a gormless twat (their words).
I believe things happen for a reason, every hardship that we go through can teach us something.
If funny how I’ve never seen any of those bullies come through the door and try a class.
